Who is this course right for?
This course is for you if you feel inspired to make soap! If you're passionate about natural ingredients or excited about making creative color and scent choices, you're going to love this!
How much time does it take to complete?
You'll need to gather your supplies and you'll want to watch the welcome videos, which you can do in a few hours. The soap-making process also takes a few hours and you can unmold and use your soap the very next day!
What kinds of oils are in the soap recipe? Will the soap be vegan?
The recipe includes olive oil, coconut oil, cocoa butter, castor oil, and sweet almond oil-- all plant-based, natural, and clean!
Do you have to use lye?
Yes. Without lye, the oils can't go through the process of saponification and make soap! The course provides a lot of guidance about how to safely handle lye. Soap removes germs better than "hand washes" and "body washes." Those items can't be called soaps because they aren't soaps and they just don't do the same job.
Does the course only teach us how to make one kind of soap?
You'll learn Lather and Light Co's tried-and-true recipe with lots of ways to customize it- through creating your own scents, choosing colorants, and some ideas for other add-ins. There's also a lecture that helps get you started creating your own soap recipe if that appeals to you more. It's recommended to try the recipe provided first though so you know what to expect.
